Maybe you can recall the day you found out that Santa wasn’t real.
The magic was gone forever.
But never mind, because here you are, all grown up, and along comes the law of attraction!
You don’t even have to send a note up the chimney any more; the law of attraction will give you whatever you desire just because you imagine it and believe in it.
Now, relax, it’s okay. I’m not going to burst another bubble… at least not in the way you might think…
Sure, the law of attraction exists, but it won’t just supply you with all the goodies you can imagine just because you imagine them.
Your imagination is an extremely powerful tool and certainly deserves not to be dismissed as “just your imagination.” But (as I mentioned in Tuesday’s post) just because you can imagine a Ferrari in your driveway doesn’t mean one’s going to appear.
It’s so easy to believe that the reason the law of attraction hasn’t delivered is because you’re not “an expert visualizer”. Or that you can’t master the focus required for deep meditation. Or that you have several negative subconscious beliefs sabotaging your efforts (which, btw is most often the case).
However what I don’t want you to do is to have something to blame – and a reason to give up. It didn’t work and life goes on.
So let’s start again. This is the law of attraction, so what are you attracted to? And what would make you attractive to it?
If you seriously, fervently want to own a Ferrari but you only feel worthy of the beaten up Ford you’ve been patching up for the last ten years, you might notice a mismatch.
Makes sense, right?
So don’t just put up a picture of a Ferrari under a fridge magnet, (or wherever you keep your dream board), start studying the lives, blogs and Facebook pages of Ferrari owners. How do they carry themselves?
What was their reaction to something stressful in their lives?
Trust me. They didn’t get happy and positive after that car showed up! They were attractive to the opportunities and people which opened up the doorways to Ferrari ownership.
So Model them.
Copy their body language – try it on like a new suit.
It may feel a little awkward to begin with, and that’s a clue. That’s called “dissonance” and is giving you a sense of the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
Ask yourself what would it take to grow into it, to wear it in until it feels comfortable?
That’s how to use your imagination.
Model the success, the lifestyle, whatever it is you want. Become the person to whom the change you want to see is attractive.
